One of my resolutions last year was to run one 5K a month. I really outdid myself last year. This year I’m being more selective with my running, but I still enjoy a good run – especially a Jacksonville one.
Many people tell me that they can’t run or that they can’t get into it but would like to. Here’s your chance! The March to Get Screened 5K is coming up on March 9th and it starts at the Jacksonville Beach Fishing Pier. The location will be beautiful and you can Instagram all your pretty beach pictures! (#MTGS – you know you loved hashtags! Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake love hashtags!) Have a Fitbit or other step-tracking device? Get in all your steps at the beginning of the day for such a great cause!
The race promotes colon cancer screening – the second leading cause of cancer in the US. Wear blue when you run or walk to support those who have or have had colon cancer. If you don’t want to run or walk alone, bring friends! Anyone 16 or under can run for free. This is the perfect opportunity to get your family moving.
For timed entry, it’s $25. Run you’re heart out! Want to casually stroll along the beach? It’s only $15 to join in. There’s even a March to Get Screened after party with food and drinks at Lynch’s Irish Pub. Darren Corlew will be playing music so you can relax and chill out after you run or walk.
Seriously – if you’re wanting to do your first 5k or your 100th, come out to the fifth Annual March to Get Screened 5K at Jacksonville Beach. Whether you’re aiming for a PR or just wanting to be social in a healthy way, make the decision to sign up.
Comment below with why YOU should be picked to win a pair of race entries! I’ll be picking the winners Friday, February 28 so get hyped! Most importantly, GET ACTIVE!
