- Charlotte to the Shenandoah
- The Shenandoah to Watkins Glen
- Watkins Glen to the Adirondacks
- The Adirondacks to Atlantic City
- Atlantic City to Hatteras
- Hatteras to Charlotte
Considering I had never camped before, people were shocked that we committed to so much camping. We only planned one night of hotel activity – in Atlantic City. There are so many things I learned on this trip. I’ve highlighted them below:
- Camping isn’t as terrifying as I thought it would be
- Going to bed and rising with the sun is actually insanely refreshing
- Camp grounds can be clean – we stayed at several that were!
- Even being clean, campground showers are my least favorite part of the whole thing
- We need another tarp for our tent because an insane amount of rain can’t be contained
- A moderate hike in the north means it’s a strenuous hike in the south
- Food poisoning while camping is really unfortunate
- Sleeping in a hammock is a great way to relax after throwing up on the side of the road
- Ferry rides are a fun time
- North Carolina has a National Park (I really had no idea…even when we booked the campground)
I know there’s more, but I really would do this trip a million times over. I’m already ready to do it again. While not everything went perfectly, it was an amazing trip. I didn’t complete disconnect, but it was enough for now.
Opt outside. Or just try something that scares you.
